We have never found another set of cufflinks with this unique box clasp and chain closure mechanism. A truly rare and early example of forgotten historical vintage fashion. Crafted entirely from 10K yellow gold, these cufflinks feature round faces engraved with a foliage motif, surrounded by a fancy sunburst border. The cufflinks are attached by threading the M-shaped link chain through the shirt cuffs and inserting the tongue into the face, which doubles as a standard box clasp. Based on the craftsmanship, chain and clasp, we believe these cufflinks date back to the Victorian era. Great antique condition with light wear consistent with age and use. A tiny ding is present on the reverse of one face, but it is not very large nor visible when worn. Both clasps and tongues are fully-functional and close securely. The engravings on each face remain sharp and beautiful. No visible markings to be found, but fully X-Ray tested to confirm and guarantee gold purity. These cufflinks have escaped being melted sue to two world wars, the great depression and even the Covid Pandemic! A curious and unique piece of men’s fashion history.
